National Supreme House of the Year

On Friday night the National House of the Year winners for 2020 were announced via a virtual event.  Both our "Hidden Island" project on the Jacks Point Preserve and "Lot 20" project in Closeburn Station had made the Top 100 houses from the regional House of the Year awards and were therefore in the running.

While we celebrated our staff Christmas party at Cargo Brewery in the Gibbston Valley, we had the Awards on in the background and it all became very exciting as our Closeburn build was awarded a number of the National awards.

We were absolutely thrilled to be awarded the Resene New Home over $2 million, the Plumbing World Bathroom Excellence, and National Kitchen Excellence awards and then the big one - National Supreme House of the Year build!

Here are some of the things the judges said about our Closeburn build:

"Judges were impressed with the powerful presence of this well-built home, carefully positioned to take advantage of the lake and mountain views, growing into its landscape."

"This home is an outstanding example of the builder's attention to detail. Clever use of natural materials creates an intriguing home that has visual warmth and a harmonious balance. The geometry stirs the imagination with a dramatic use of steeply pitched roofs, sculptured shapes, and five interconnecting pavilions. It’s clear that this incredible home has been designed and built to successfully offer comfortable living.”

“The flawless implementation of these details proves this build was no easy feat,” said the judges.

To make it all even more exciting, Registered Master Builders representatives along with TV1 News arrived at Cargo to hand deliver the awards and capture our reactions  - many were rather priceless (see photos).

Our Closeburn build was a huge team effort and we were very fortunate to be working with such a passionate and talented project team - thank you to all of those involved!
